Obtaining a Return Material Authorization
Before returning a product directly to North Star Energy Systems, Inc. you must obtain a Return Material Authorization
(RMA) number and the correct "Ship To" address. Products must also be shipped prepaid. Product shipments will be
refused and returned at your expense if they are unauthorized, returned without an RMA number clearly marked on the
outside of the shipping crate or packaging, if they are shipped collect, or if they are shipped to the wrong location.
Information We Need When You Are Obtaining Service
- The instruction manual shipped with your product for reference
- The model and serial number of your product
- Information about general usage of the product and installation with other electrical systems (grid-intertied, etc.)
- Information about any product failures and/or reasons for return
- A copy of your dated proof of purchase
Preparing the Product for Shipping

- Package the unit safely, preferably in a crate that is similar to the crate in which it was originally shipped.
If you took delivery of the product at our factory or an authorized dealer, then contact us and we can assist you
in getting the unit properly crated for shipping. Ensure that the product is shipped fully insured. The warranty does
not apply where the product is damaged due to improper packaging.
- Include the following:
- The RMA number supplied by North Star Energy Systems, Inc., clearly marked on the outside of the shipping
crate or packaging
- A return address where the product can be shipped. PO boxes are not acceptable
- A brief description of the problem or failure
- A contact telephone number where you can be reached during regular working hours
Ship the product prepaid to the address we supply to you when you request the RMA.
Under no circumstances should you remove components from a generator unit and ship them to North Star Energy
Services, Inc. unless expressly directed to do so by one of our service representatives. The service representative
will instruct you in the proper removal of any components should we determine that one or more components have
failed or are defective.
If You Purchased Through an Authorized Dealer or Agent
If you made your retail purchase through an authorized dealer, please do not attempt to return any products to
them. Make all arrangements for returns through North Star Energy Systems, Inc. directly.
